Migration and settlement  /  File opened 22 October 2026

Migration decisionsoutlast the visa.

We look past the grant letter: to the skills assessment, the job, the recognition and the life the visa is meant to make possible. We give general information and settlement support, and when a matter needs visa advice we refer it to one person, named below, who is registered to give it.

Visa matters are referred to Sukh Sandhu, Registered Migration Agent, MARN 1384130, of The Immigration Worldwide Pty Ltd. The registration is personal to Sukh, with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA). Check the register.

Done properly, or not at all.

Most people arrive asking for a visa. The questions that decide whether the move works come before and after it.

i  Published rules
Stacks of tabbed case files beside a laptop on a clean white desk

What the rules say, dated

General information about the main Australian visa pathways, including when a rule change has closed a door. Advice on your own circumstances, and any preparation or lodgement, comes only from a registered migration agent under their own written service agreement.

Visa matters referred to: Sukh Sandhu, Registered Migration Agent, MARN 1384130. Australian visas only.

ii  Skills assessment

The assessment most skilled pathways turn on

An overseas qualification is not automatically recognised. We help you understand what the assessing authority publishes, put your evidence in order and see the gaps before they cost you a fee.

Decided by: the assessing authority for your occupation, never by us.

iii  Settlement

Work, study and recognition after the grant

Licensing, recognition of prior learning, English and employment, which is where the real difficulty usually starts. Training and recognition services come from the wider CAQA group. After the visa.

Through: CAQA group training and skills recognition services.

Immigration assistance in Australia is regulated. Only a registered migration agent, or a person the law specifically allows, may give it for a fee. Immi Worldwide does not give immigration assistance and does not charge for it. Our settlement and training staff do not give visa advice, and we do not advise on the law of any other country. How we work, and where we stop.

Pick a topic, read the rule.

Choose a topic and what you want to read about. The file that comes back holds the published rule with its date, the official pages to read, and the point where a matter needs a registered migration agent. It asks nothing about you, not your salary, your visa or your history, and it keeps nothing.

Reading requestPublished information only
Q1Which topic?

This finder asks only what you want to read. It does not assess anyone's circumstances, and nothing here can tell whether a visa will be granted. Only the Department of Home Affairs decides that.

  1. What the published rule says, with its date
  2. Links to the official pages
  3. Where the topic becomes advice, and who gives it

The failures we see most.

We publish these because most of the value in hiring anyone is knowing which mistakes are common, and that knowledge is not worth hiding.

01  Recognition

Qualification assumed to transfer

An overseas qualification is not automatically recognised. Assessment by the relevant authority is a separate process with its own timeline, its own fee and its own evidence rules.

02  Standing

Advice from people without standing

Immigration advice in Australia is regulated. Taking it from someone who is not registered puts the application at risk, not just the fee. Anyone can check a MARN on the OMARA register in under a minute.

03  Currency

A plan built on last year's rules

Student, skilled and family rules all changed during 2026. A plan made from an old forum post or a friend's experience can now point at a door that has closed, such as applying for a Student visa from inside Australia.

Client stories appear here only with each client's written consent. None are published yet. Every story will be a real client's own words, unedited in meaning, with the date of consent shown.

Testimonial policy: we publish a client story only with the client's written consent, in their own words, with no incentive given, and we never remove fair negative reviews. See the Privacy Policy.

We tell you what we find.

Including when the answer is that you do not need what you came to ask for. Anyone who never says that is not giving you information, they are giving you an invoice.

The full process, and why advice must come from a registered agent

The docket, newest first.

The rules below decide what many people can and cannot do in 2026. Each is dated and taken from the Department of Home Affairs or the regulator. Charges and thresholds change; check the official page before you rely on one.

Student visas: most onshore applications closedIn force

Most temporary visa holders, including most Student visa holders, can no longer apply for a Student or Student Guardian visa while in Australia. Narrow exemptions apply, such as up to 12 more months with the same provider, PhD study, school students and provider default. Most applicants can also no longer include family members, and family cannot join after grant. Applications lodged before 2 October 2026 are assessed under the old rules.

New processing order for skilled visasIn force

New Ministerial Directions set the order in which Skills in Demand and permanent and provisional skilled visas are processed. Construction, healthcare, teaching, agriculture, resources, law enforcement and defence occupations come first, then onshore applicants.

Points test redesign announcedNot in force

The Government has announced a redesigned points test. No new table, pass mark or start date has been published. The current points table and 65-point pass mark still apply.

New processing order for family visasIn force

A new Ministerial Direction for family visas gives highest priority to applications made in Australia for visas that can be granted in Australia.

Visa charges and income thresholds roseIn force

Most visa application charges rose by about a quarter. Core Skills Income Threshold A$79,423 and Specialist Skills Income Threshold A$146,576, for nominations lodged from 1 July 2026. Charges for the main visas are listed under costs, below.

New rulebook for migration agentsIn force

The Migration Agents Regulations 2026 replaced the 1998 Regulations. An agent's website address is now shown on the OMARA register, and every agent's yearly training must include points in both Ethics and the Code of Conduct.

The full register of changes, with sources

The Code of Conduct, in plain language.

Registered migration agents work under a legally binding Code of Conduct. When we refer you, these are the protections that matter most.

Registration is personal

Sukh Sandhu is registered with OMARA as an individual. Companies are not registered, there are no levels of registration, and Immi Worldwide holds no registration. Check any agent on the OMARA register.

Paperwork before work

The registered agent gives you the OMARA Consumer Guide and a written service agreement before any work for a fee starts.

Fees in writing, money kept apart

The agent's fees are quoted in writing, as a fixed fee or an hourly rate with an estimate, including GST, and client money is held in a separate client account. Immi Worldwide takes no money for visa work.

Referral relationships disclosed

Any referral fee or commission connected with your matter, from an education provider, an employer or a referring business such as ours, is disclosed to you in writing before you choose.

No special access, no promised outcomes

No one has a special relationship with the Department of Home Affairs or any official. No one can promise you a visa outcome, and anyone who does is not telling you the truth.

Complaints

Tell us first and we will respond in writing. Complaints about a registered agent's service go to the agent first, then to OMARA. Complaints and feedback.

Who you are dealing with

Immi Worldwide is operated by Career Calling International Pty Ltd (ABN 53 162 651 238), part of the CAQA group. It gives general information and settlement support and does not give immigration assistance.

Visa matters are referred to Sukh Sandhu, Registered Migration Agent, MARN 1384130, of The Immigration Worldwide Pty Ltd, a separate company. Sukh Sandhu also leads the CAQA group, so a referral from us is a referral to a related business. You are free to choose any registered migration agent, and you can check any agent on the OMARA register.

Immi Worldwide does not charge you for a referral. If any payment were ever connected with your matter, the registered agent must tell you in writing, before acting, who pays it and how much.

The phone number 1800 266 160 is currently shared with The Immigration Worldwide Pty Ltd. When you call, say whether you want general information and settlement support (Immi Worldwide) or visa advice (the registered agent).

What it costs, and who charges it.

Three different parties can charge in a migration matter. We keep them apart so you always know who is asking for money, and for what.

Immi Worldwide

  • General information, the topic finder and a referral: no charge.
  • We do not charge for immigration assistance, and we never take money for visa work.
  • Any fee for recognition, training or settlement support is quoted in writing, by the CAQA group business that provides it, before you agree to anything.

The registered migration agent

  • Sukh Sandhu's professional fees are set by Sukh and quoted in writing in Sukh's service agreement, as a fixed fee or an hourly rate with an estimate, including GST.
  • If the agent charges for an initial consultation, the fee must be reasonable and you are told it before booking.
  • No money for visa work is taken before the agent's service agreement is signed, and every agreement includes a fair refund policy.

Charged by others

Visa application charges are paid to the Department. Skills assessments, English tests, medicals and police checks are charged by the bodies that run them.

Asked often, answered plainly.

Who gives the visa advice?

Not Immi Worldwide. Visa advice can only come from a registered migration agent, and we refer visa matters to Sukh Sandhu, Registered Migration Agent, MARN 1384130, of The Immigration Worldwide Pty Ltd. The CAQA group's training and settlement staff help with recognition, study and work, but they do not advise on visas.

Can you tell me my chances?

No. We give general information only, and nobody can tell you the decision, because the Department makes it. A registered migration agent can explain how the criteria apply to you and where the risks sit, but no one can promise a result, and anyone who quotes you odds is not telling you the truth.

Do I have to use a migration agent?

No. Anyone can apply for a visa themselves, and the Department publishes its criteria online. People usually look for a registered migration agent when the stakes, the history or the paperwork make a mistake expensive.

Do you charge for the referral?

No. Immi Worldwide does not charge you for general information or for a referral. If any referral payment were ever connected with your matter, you would be told about it in writing before the agent acts.

Can you help with Canada, the UK, New Zealand or the USA?

Not with advice. We do not advise on the immigration law of any other country, and the agent we refer to advises on Australian visas only. Each of those countries limits immigration advice to people licensed there, so for them you need a professional regulated in that country.

Is the topic finder advice?

No. It returns general, published information for a type of situation, using rules current at 21 October 2026. It does not know your history, and it says so. Your answers stay in your browser.

Does recognition of prior learning count as a skills assessment?

Not by itself. An Australian qualification gained through recognition of prior learning is a qualification. The assessing authority for your occupation decides what it accepts for a skills assessment, and that is a separate process.
